The FF-61 Tiger Moth is a 1/17.6 scale, SAM qualified, flying model that uses the Precision Beam method of construction. Modelcraft. de Havilland & his longtime friend, engine designer Frank Halford, modified a French motor & came up with one that was lighter in weight & simpler in design. The new motors powered de Havilland's highly successful Moth family of aircraft. The first such airplane flew in 1925 & continued through WWII. These included the Gipsy Moth, Giant Moth, Hawk Moth, Puss Moth, Swallow Moth, Tiger Moth, Fox Moth, Leopard Moth, and Hornet Moth. They served as private planes, trainers, and light airliners. This kit was designed by Roy Thomason for the Modelcraft division of Easy Built Models.
