A 1/28 scale model of the 1938 Stinson Reliant SR-10, Society of Antique Modelers qualified, uses the Box and Former method of construction.
In 1939, an experimental airmail “sky hook” service was introduced in rural communities that lacked air strips. A container loaded with mail was positioned on the top of a tall pole. A Stinson Reliant swooped down as the flight officer grappled the airmail container with a long hook while incoming airmail was dropped from the plane to a waiting post office representative.
Our model (EasyBuilt's) was designed September 21, 1939 by Ron Clarke. It took third place at the Muncie, IN contest in 1999.
