BMJ-B-701 Sparks
The
Sparks
is an intro-level design for the new E-36 class model, which will be flown at
the 2007 Nats as a provisional event. E-36 rules proposed by Vic Nipert are
intended to be simple, aimed at utilizing readily available components,
providing an inexpensive way to become knowledgeable with the techniques
necessary to fly electric powered Free Flight. Power is limited to 4 or fewer
NiCd or NiMh cells not to exceed 190 mAh capacity (Lithium Polymer cells will
not be allowed). Only brushed motors are allowed either direct drive or geared.
Propellers may be straight or folding. Motor run will be limited to a max of 25
seconds, with fly-off’s shortened to 15, 10 and 5 seconds. Models wingspan
shall not exceed 36 inches, with no restriction on area. Minimum flying weight
is 150 grams.
Sparks
was designed to meet these rules, and is intended to provide a platform for the
modeler to gain some experience with electric power, while flying a really
competitive model.
