BMJ-B-12 Slim Zeek
The Slim Zeek designed by Dan Sobala is an approved Nostalgia design that also
qualifies for the new Vintage FAI event. In 1955 Dan flew his Slim Zeek in the
international team trials missing a slot due to timer trouble in the 4th round.
The Slim Zeek uses the elliptical wing with an under-cambered airfoil, and tail
from the Lew Mahieu designed Zeek, as kitted by Premium Mfg. Co. To reduce
weight and drag the fuselage and frontal area were reduced to produce the
“Slim” Zeek. The 1955 FAI rules required an ROG takeoff so Dan devised a
retracting wheel design. Today utilization of a typical skid is more common.
50” Wing Span , Area 397” sq.
