BMJ-B-123 Kiwi-A
123 Kiwi-a The thin flat-bottom airfoil of Goldberg's Comet Interceptor was the
influence accredited to Lew Mahieu Kiwi design. As an employee of K&B in
1954 when the Torpedo Green Head 15 was introduced, Lew designed the 48"
span, 375 sq.in. Kiwi to meet the then FAI Free Flight rules with the new
engine. The FAI Kiwi was K&B's first and only venture into the competition
kit market which was eventually sold to Guillow. Having experience with the 1/2A
Kiwi; when we acquired an OS Max 15, and remembering our K&B Kiwi go OOS
from Fort Meyers FL in 1964 with a TD .15, we were ready for another A size
Kiwi. The BMJR Kiwi-A is true to the original design with the only changes to
accommodate laser cutting technology for ease of assembly.Flying weight of our
prototype is 15.1 oz. The BMJR Kiwi-A is perfect for NFFS class A Nostalgia and
the new Vintage FAI event
